Our approach is to reduce our environmental impact through responsible operational practices, informed decision making, and continuous improvement. Sustainability is considered across our offices, technology choices, suppliers, and the services we deliver. As a technology services provider, we recognise the role that modern IT plays in improving efficiency, reducing waste, and supporting more sustainable ways of working for both our business and our clients.

Our visible flagship sits on three connected pillars: pollinator biodiversity we support in Limerick, clean energy powering our infrastructure, and electric mobility moving our team. Together they bring the policy to life across the places NTES actually works.
BIODIVERSITY
The BEE HIVE
We host working honey bee colonies at a private site in Limerick, supporting pollinators that are critical to Irish biodiversity. The hives are looked after year-round in partnership with a local apiarist, and every jar of NTES honey is shared with clients and staff.
ENERGY & EMISSIONS
Cloud-first, low-carbon
We prioritise cloud and virtualised services to minimise physical infrastructure, work with data-centre and cloud providers that operate to recognised energy-efficiency standards, and keep reducing energy consumption across our own offices and IT environments.
ELECTRIC MOBILITY
Electric since 2020
NTES has moved its fleet to electric, with the first of these having arrived in February 2020. We’re targeting net zero on carbon emissions and continue to support the use of low- and zero-emission vehicles across our team.
How we put it into practice.
Energy and emissions
We cut energy use across our offices and IT environments. Cloud and virtualised services come first, so there is less physical infrastructure to power, and we work with data centre and cloud providers that meet recognised energy-efficiency standards. Quality hardware lasts longer and draws less power, and where printing is unavoidable it uses less toner, ink and other consumables. Remote working and virtual meetings keep travel emissions down.
Transport and travel
Flexible and remote working keeps commuting and business travel to a minimum, and where travel is necessary we work to limit its impact. Our fleet is electric, with the first of these vehicles arriving in February 2020. We are targeting net zero on carbon emissions and support the use of low and zero-emission vehicles.
IT equipment and waste
We extend the life of IT equipment through repair and reuse wherever it is practical. End-of-life equipment is disposed of securely and responsibly through approved recycling partners and registered disposal sites. We work to reduce electronic waste and single-use materials, and run a paperless office wherever possible.
Suppliers and partners
Environmental responsibility is part of how we choose suppliers and partners. We encourage them to demonstrate sustainable practices, and we look to work with those who share our commitment to responsible operations.
Clients and services
We help clients reduce their own environmental impact through efficient, secure and modern IT. That means cloud adoption, digital collaboration and paperless workflows, alongside resilient systems that avoid unnecessary resource use.
Governance and review
Responsibility for sustainability sits with senior management. The policy is reviewed regularly and updated as our business and technologies evolve. We hold documentation to demonstrate compliance, and the policy is enforced through managerial vigilance, regular auditing and review.
